Introducing Eskvale Walking Hockey
In the run up to Scottish Hockey’s first Walking Hockey Festival, we are showcasing some of Scotland’s Walking Hockey groups. First up, we have Eskvale Wockey (Eskvale Hockey Club) who were actually the first club to introduce the inclusive initiative in Scotland.
In 2019, Midlothian based club, Eskvale, successfully launched the first walking hockey group in Scotland which set a trend for other clubs to follow suit. Eskvale empower people of all ages and abilities to get involved in in the fun game they have nicknamed “Wockey”! The Wockey family here includes former players, player’s returning from injury or have medical conditions and players who have never played hockey before who all share the same motivation to have fun!
We visited Eskvale in March to see how things are going, check out the video below to hear from the Wockey family:
If you’re in the area and would like to give Wockey a go, you can find Neil, Davie and the Wockey family at Lasswade High School Astro on Wednesday evenings 7:30-8:50pm. You can give it a go for free then once you love it and become a regular, it is £5 per month. All ages and abilities especially beginners are welcome – all equipment is provided. Contact [email protected] or message Eskvale Hockey Club on Facebook to find out more.
