Germans flattered by scoreline against Scotland U18’s
Few eyebrows would be raised with the news that Scotland`s under 18
girls lost 5-1 to Germany in the opening match of the three nations
tournament at Lille yesterday evening, but what was quite
remarkable was that the Scots youngsters dominated large portions
of the contest. The Scots were far from overawed by the
tournament favourites and reached the interval at 1-1, CALA
Edinburgh`s Hazel Hall had scored from the spot. The match
remained on a knife edge until late in the game when three
defensive lapses gave the Germans their flattering scoreline.
Scotland`s under 18 boys development squad lost their opening match
2-1 against Ulster at Jordanstown. CALA`s Corey Hastings was
on target but the Scots cause was not helped by missing a penalty
stroke.
