Clydesdale hold on to top six spot in men’s Premiership
Inverleith drew level on points with Clydesdale after beating Grove Menzieshill 3-2 in a catch-up Premiership match but failed to take over the coveted sixth place from the Glasgow side having failed to make any real dent in their superior goal difference. The consolation for Inverleith was the fact that they leapfrogged Uddingston into seventh spot but are still consigned to the lower competition.
It was a promising start for Inverleith as they went into a two goal lead in the first quarter through Derek Salmond and Ed Iffla. But by the interval Grove Menzieshill were level with strikes by Luke Cranney and Ross McPherson at a breakaway.
The winner came from Rory Steedman with only ten minutes left and although the Menzieshill coach replaced his keeper with an additional outfield player in a belated attempt to rescue the match Inverleith survived for the three points.
