A draw at Titwood – now Clydesdale Western have the chance to succeed in the quest for Europe

Edinburgh University and Clydesdale Western battled out a draw last night at Titwood in the race for second place in the women’s Premiership.

The students are still a point ahead and have a slightly better goal difference but they have now finished their Premiership programme while Clydesdale have a game in hand against GHK, and three points here would leapfrog the Glasgow side into second place and that other European spot.

GHK have had a good season; they made the top six competition at the split but since then have struggled with only a single point from their nine games and last time out lost 5-1 to Clydesdale, and the Titwood-based side will hope to take the required three points for Europe.

Edinburgh University started the match in positive mode and went into the lead through Amy Brodie in the first half and looked to be heading for the required three points, but Fiona Semple levelled in the third quarter and then Clydesdale hit the post, but a draw was the final result.

Clydesdale coach Derek Forsyth said: “Our second half performance meant that we more than deserved the draw and we were unlucky not to win the match.”
