Greenck Morton Appoint DCI Club Connect Coach

Jonny Roy - GreenockGreenock Morton Hockey Club have recently recruited Jonny Roy as their Club Connect Coach through Direct Club Investment from SportScotland. Jonny will work alongside other staff at Greenock Morton Community Trust with a particular remit for increasing the number of junior members within the Hockey section. Jonny will work closely with Active Schools locally to embed a culture of hockey.

Jonny started his hockey career at Greenock before moving onto Clydesdale to experience top division hockey in Scotland and was capped at U18 level. Since then he has had spells in Australia and with Uddingston before re-joining Greenock Morton a couple of years ago. Since returning to Morton Jonny has been captain for the 1st XI, been top goal scorer and progressed through the Scottish Hockey coaching pathway where he is about to complete his UKCC Level 2.

Head of Morton Hockey, Alan Martin commented ‘It’s great to have investment like this into our club, it will lead to strong growth and it’s particularly good to see current local members being able to apply for the job and ultimately work for their club’ Jonny also commented saying ‘I’m really proud to be part of the Morton family and to have the opportunity to drive my own club forward, I’m keen to start working with the targeted schools locally so we can get even more youngsters enjoying hockey and wearing the blue and white’
